Most all of the food that you see is something that we eat everyday., but one thing is that is growing in popularity is a food that is called ghee. Although it seems like this is a new product on the market it has been around for quite some time. In fact it dates back thousands of years.

Ghee has been used in India and Pakistan for quite some time as an alternative to butter. The name ghee means sprinkled. Since it is becoming more popular individuals are wanting to know more about the product. Ghee looks like butter and taste kind of similar. Although they’re very similar butter is made up of milk solids and water. Butter is a dairy product and it is used in cooking. Butter adds flavor and fat to the dishes that you were making. If you removed the milk solids and water from butter ghee would be what you have left. Because it does not contain the same levels of moisture as butter if you put ghee in an airtight container it will last for quite a while. Ghee can be used in nearly any recipe, but you have to remember it has a higher smoke point than butter.

An Interview with ER Physician Dr. Eric Forsthoefel

Dr. Eric Forsthoefel is a Tallahassee, Florida-based emergency room physician with more than seven years of experience. As an ER physician, he specializes in treating patients in life-threatening conditions, including those suffering from physical trauma, heart attack, stroke or drug overdose. Dr. Forsthoefel recently sat down for an interview to discuss his life, his career and his passions.

Before receiving his M.D. from the University of Louisville Medical School and completed his emergency medicine residency at Louisiana State University, Eric Forsthoefel wasn’t sure if he wanted to enter the field of medicine. When asked about his career path, Forsthoefel explained that he didn’t decide to pursue a medical degree until he was nearing the end of his college career at Florida State University. By the time he graduated with a degree in religion, he knew he wanted to become a doctor.

When asked to explain his success, Forsthoefel cited his genuine passion for saving lives and for the business side of medicine. He believes that doing what he loves has helped keep him motivated, whether he’s helping an individual patient or trying to improve the health care system as a whole. Another key to his success, he said, was his quick adjustment to the chaotic life of an ER physician.

Dr. Forsthoefel also offered a bit of advice for other aspiring doctors. Medicine isn’t a field for those looking for instant gratification, he warns. It’s an expensive and time-consuming path, but a mix of drive and passion can pave the way to professional and financial success. He also said that one invaluable lesson he’s learned as an ER doctor is that teamwork is everything. Strong communication between medical professionals can save lives, he believes.

Finally, Dr. Forsthoefel was asked a few personal questions. His favorite activity outside of work, he revealed, is barbecuing, although he admits he still needs some practice. When asked to list a book or other piece of media that’s been especially influential for him, he chose Samuel Shem’s The House of God, a book Forsthoefel believes every ER physician should read.
